Drug Class and Mechanism

Reminyl is a cholinesterase inhibitor. It works by increasing the amount of a certain substance (acetylcholine) in the brain, which may help reduce symptoms of dementia in patients with Alzheimer disease.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Reminyl and are using it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store Reminyl between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Brief storage at temperatures between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Reminyl out of the reach of children and away from pets.
Warnings/Precautions

you are allergic to any ingredient in Reminyl;
you have severely decreased liver or kidney function.
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

When you begin taking Reminyl, your doctor will increase your dose slowly over several months. This may help to decrease the risk of certain side effects (e.g., nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea). Carefully follow the dosing schedule prescribed by your doctor.
Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Reminyl before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery.
Reminyl should not be used in children; safety and effectiveness in children have not been confirmed.
